Visa Overview
Are you engaged to an Aussie? The Prospective Marriage Visa (also known as the fiancée visa) is ideal for those who are engaged to be married to an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Eligible New Zealand Citizen. It is a temporary visa for those engaged to be married to their Australian or Eligible NZ Sponsor and who plan to travel to and from Australia to marry their partner.
Once granted, holders have a validity period (between 9-15 months) in which they must travel to Australia and marry their prospective spouse. The marriage is permitted to either take place in Australia or overseas but must be valid under Australian Law.
